The Edo State Government has disassociated itself from public statements issued by John Mayaki, emphasising that he does not speak on behalf of Governor Monday Okpebholo or his administration.

This clarification was contained in a statement released to Uptown Press on Tuesday by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.

The statement reads: โ€œThe attention of the Office of the Governor of Edo State has been drawn to unauthorised statements being issued by Mr. John Mayaki, a former Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki.

โ€œThese statements do not reflect the official position of the Governorโ€™s Office on any matter and should therefore be disregarded.

โ€œWhile Mr. Mayaki, as a private citizen, is entitled to his opinions, these personal views should not be misconstrued as representing the stance of Governor Okpebholo.

โ€œThe Governorโ€™s official spokespersons have been formally appointed and announced. Any information attributed to the Governor should be verified through these authorised channels.โ€

The government urged members of the public to rely solely on information disseminated by recognised representatives of the administration to avoid the spread of misinformation.
