The Edo State Government has graduated 60 newly trained security personnel under the Edo State Security Corps in a renewed effort to bolster internal security and safeguard lives and property. The personnel are to take charge of the Security Administrative Departments at the Corps’ Headquarters in Benin City.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the State Deputy Corps Commandant, CSP Richard Balogun (rtd), reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing security architecture across the state. He revealed that the state, under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, is poised to recruit and train more able-bodied men and women to strengthen the fight against crime and social vices.
“Our mission is to create a safe environment that encourages peace, attracts investment and stimulates economic growth,” CSP Balogun stated. “The training of this new batch is only one of several initiatives designed to ensure Edo State remains secure and progressive.”
Addressing the new graduates, CSP Balogun urged them to exhibit professionalism, discipline, and teamwork as they work alongside other security agencies. He emphasised that modern crime-fighting requires not only courage and tactics but also intelligence sharing and collaboration.
He also reminded the recruits of the Corps’ strict code of conduct, which includes punctuality, discipline, respect for authority, selfless service, and a zero tolerance for gossip, absenteeism and insubordination.
CSP Balogun praised the determination and discipline demonstrated by the newly inducted personnel during their training, adding that their deployment will further enhance surveillance and rapid response within the state’s security framework.
The initiative has been widely praised by residents and stakeholders who view the investment in local security infrastructure as a proactive step toward reducing crime and fostering sustainable development.
The Edo State Government is expected to unveil more security-related initiatives in the coming months as part of its comprehensive strategy to ensure the safety and wellbeing of citizens and residents across the State.
