Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Professor Victor Adetimirin Olawale as the new Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, and made available to Uptown Press. The appointment, according to the statement, takes immediate effect.
Professor Olawale, a renowned scholar and administrator, brings decades of experience in teaching, research, and university management to his new role. An expert in Agronomy, he earned his B.Sc. in Agriculture, as well as his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics, from the University of Ibadan.
Over the course of his career, he has held key positions in Nigeria’s higher education system, including Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, and Director of Academic Planning. He is widely recognised for his contributions to curriculum development, research innovation, and institutional reform.
With numerous publications in both local and international journals and a record of successfully supervising many postgraduate students, Professor Olawale is expected to provide visionary leadership aimed at advancing Edo University, Iyamho, as a centre of academic and research excellence.
