Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administrationโ€™s unwavering resolve to stamp out cultism in the State, declaring that no amount of intimidation will deter his government from pursuing the campaign.

The Governor made this vow on Tuesday while addressing a crowd of youths who staged a peaceful rally to the Government House in support of recent actions taken by the government against cult-related activities.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo emphasised that his administration places high value on the lives of every Edo citizen, stressing that efforts to eradicate cultism would be relentless.

“If I had been a victim of cult violence in my youth, I wouldn’t be standing here today as your governor. We must work together to end this menace. Cultism has no place in Edo State,” he said.

The governor warned that continued cult violence threatens not only the safety of residents but also the economic prospects of the state. โ€œInvestors will not come to a state where their lives and assets are at risk. We must ensure Edo is safe โ€” for ourselves and for development,โ€ he added.

Governor Okpebholo also defended the recent demolition of a building allegedly linked to cult activities, asserting that due legal processes were observed. โ€œWe are not demolishing properties at random. This administration will act decisively and lawfully to dismantle the infrastructure of criminality.โ€
