The recent announcement by the Federal Government regarding the indefinite suspension of the N-Power programme has raised many questions among the public.
According to Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, the suspension was necessitated by various flaws within the scheme.

During an interview with TVC News, Edu revealed that the government has launched an investigation into how the funds have been utilized since the inception of the program. One of the issues that the government has identified is the presence of beneficiaries who cannot be found in their place of assignments, yet they still expect monthly stipends.
Additionally, some of the beneficiaries should have left the program since 2022, but they are still on the payroll. This has raised concerns about the utilization of funds and the effectiveness of the program in combating youth unemployment and promoting social development.
To address these issues, the Minister has announced that the N-Power program would be temporarily suspended until a proper investigation can be conducted.
The government plans to restructure and expand the program to better serve its purpose. This will involve a thorough review of the entire program to identify areas that need improvement and ensure that funds are being utilized appropriately.
In conclusion, the suspension of the N-Power program is a necessary step in ensuring that the scheme achieves its goals of combating youth unemployment and promoting social development.
The government’s decision to conduct a comprehensive investigation and restructure the program is a positive move that will enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the utilization of funds.
