A former Etsako West Councillor, Hon. Muhammed Hassan has donated learning materials to public primary schools across Etsako West Local Government of Edo State.
Former Secretary to Etsako West Council, Hon Zibiri Muhammed unveiled the distribution of the learning materials at Uchi Primary School on Wednesday 16th June, 2021.
Some of the schools covered on day one of the event are; Momoh Primary School, Usogun Primary School, Iyekhe, Aibotse, Akpekpe, Army Day and Uchi Primary School.
The distribution is to last for three days.
Items to be distributed included; 6,000 notebooks, 3, 000 pencils and 1, 444 rulers.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hon. Muhammed Hassan told this blog that the gesture is to support the Edo State government led by Mr. Godwin Obaseki in implementing its free and compulsory education policy.
He said: “This administration has education as their priority. Government has been able to digitilised the teaching of our children. They also make sure our teachers are trained, renovated classrooms for our children.
“I am doing this to add to whatever they have done.”
He charged school teachers to ensure the items donated are judiciously utilized while urging the pupils to be studious in order to achieve their dreams in life.
Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Etsako West Chapter, Comrade Momodu Audu thanked the donor for his kind gesture and for his positive contribution towards the advancement of education in the community.
In his remarks, the Chairman Association of Primary School Head teachers of Nigeria, Etsako West Chapter, Comrade Abu Osman Kassim expressed gratitude for his kind gesture adding that the items will be put to proper use.
He urged other politicians in the community to emulate him.
Other dignitaries who graced the event were: Mrs Madujemi Beatrice who represented Etsako West Education Secretary, Mr Aliu Yusuf, primary school teachers in the community and People’s Democratic Party loyalists.
