The Federal Government has launched the third phase of its flagship empowerment scheme, the Renewed Hope Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (RHGEEP 3.0), with an ambitious target of reaching five million new beneficiaries by 2027.
The initiative was formally unveiled in Abuja at a national stakeholdersβ roundtable by Badamasi Lawal, National Coordinator and Chief Executive of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
According to Lawal, RHGEEP 3.0 represents βa recalibration, not a continuation,β designed to broaden financial inclusion and create new pathways for empowerment, particularly for women and young people.
The expanded programme introduces fresh interventions such as the Circular Economy Youth Empowerment Initiative (CEYEI), which will promote green jobs, and the Labour, Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP), geared towards skills development and job creation.
βThis strategy is anchored on four principlesβbridging the gap, trust, consistency, and accountability,β Lawal stated, stressing that transparency, digital inclusion through fintech partnerships, and collaboration with states and local governments will be central to the programmeβs success.
Since inception, GEEP has provided micro-credit through schemes like TraderMoni, MarketMoni, and FarmerMoni, boosting small enterprises and offering lifelines to Nigerians excluded from the formal financial system.
Lawal commended the contributions of GEEPβs National Programme Manager and technical partnersβSystem Strategy and Policy Lab and Sydani Groupβfor their role in shaping the renewed framework.
With its new direction, RHGEEP 3.0 is expected to drive mass job creation, deepen transparency, and deliver sustainable financial inclusion for millions of Nigerians at the base of the economic pyramid.
