In line with the mandate of Fugar Progressive Union (FPU) to contribute to the development of the community, the leadership of the Union has donated a renovated block of Six Classrooms, Six Offices and four toilets to Fugar Mixed Senior Secondary School.
In his opening speech, the National President of Fugar Progressive Union, Barrister Richard Anetekhai, said the intervention became necessary in view of the state of dilapidated building’s in the School.
The FPU National President, reiterated that the project is one of many other intervention programmes that have been executed by the Union.
According to him, FPU has engaged the services of five teachers since January 2019 till date and refurbished about three hundred and fifty (350) School tables and Chairs to improve the quality of learning in the School.
Barr. Anetekhai, however, lamented that inspire of all these interventions by the FPU to complement government efforts, the School is still lacking of many infrastructure.
The FPU boss, appealed to the State government to intervene in the School by addressing the acute shortage of teachers and dilapidated infrastructure so as to boost the standard of learning in the school.
While thanking the FPU Education Committee for a job well done, the President also appreciated other donors that contributed towards the realization of the dream and urged the school Management and the Students to make judicious use of the facilities.
In his address, the Chairman Board of Trustees Of Fugar Progressive Union, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe represented by the National Secretary General of the Union, Mr. David Agabi, commended the Union for embarking on the project and promised to continue to support the union to take the community to greater heights.
The BOT Chairman urged the state government to improve on the School’s infrastructure as well as recruitment of teachers and embark on perimeter fencing of the School for proper monitoring of movement of students.
In his remark, Okphe Ukpi and the traditional Ruler of Ivhiarua Community, His Royal Highness, Chief Jerome Omokhape Itepu commended FPU for contributions towards the enhancement of Education in the community.
HRH Itepu called on the teachers and Students of the School to put to proper use the learning facilities to achieve the objective of which they were provided.
In the same vein, the Okphe Ukpi and traditional Ruler of Ivhiunone community, His Royal Highness, (Engr) Emmanuel Ayekhele Ogah thanked FPU for the laudable project and called on Fugarians yet to register with the union to do to be part of the wind of progress and development in the community.
On his part, the Principal of Fugar Mixed Senior Secondary School, School, Mr. Sunday James Audu, extolled FPU for embarking on the gesture. He asserted that the block of Six Classrooms was renovated in accordance with the UNESCO standard with state of the arts infrastructural materials.
Mr. Audu, stated that FPU has been a major source of infrastructural development and manpower intervention in the School and assured the community of making proper use of the facilities.
In attendance were the Financial Secretary and Acting National Vice President of FPU, Mr. Patrick Adeokhor, the Education Committee Chairman, Chief, Dr, Francis Ogege, the National Provost of FPU, Engr. Musa Okhakhumhe, Representative of Chief Inspector of Education in the area, Mr. Stephen Akhigbe, Mrs Alegbe E.O, Principal Junior Secondary School, Representative of Anwu of Avhianwu, Apostle John Opiughie among others.
