Journalist-Turned-Musician Named Publicity Secretary

The Osogbo Chapter of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has ushered in a new era of leadership, with a fresh executive committee sworn in to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.
At the helm is Comrade Wale Alabi, popularly known in the entertainment circle as ‘Wale Sax’, who has been elected as the new chairman. He succeeds Comrade Janet Afolabi, also known as ‘Eri-Imol’, who made history as the first woman to lead the Osogbo chapter, serving from June 2023 to May 2025.
Joining Alabi in the leadership team is Comrade Segun Adebayo, also referred to as ‘Segun Melody’, who takes on the role of Vice Chairman. Comrade Sunday Ezekiel, widely recognised as “Sunday Alujo”, has assumed the position of Financial Secretary.
Notably, journalist-turned-musician Comrade Lateef Akanni Agboola, known by his stage name ‘Meaningful’, has been appointed as the Publicity Secretary. Comrade Taiwo Farike completes the new executive lineup as Welfare Officer.
In his inaugural address delivered in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, Chairman Alabi expressed gratitude to members for their trust and promised to consolidate on the progress recorded by the outgoing leadership. He affirmed that the new executive would uphold unity and professionalism within the association.
All the newly elected officers emerged unopposed, reflecting a consensus among members and a shared vision for continuity and growth.
Presiding over the swearing-in ceremony, the Osun State PMAN Governor, Comrade Abdulazeez Ibraheem (popularly called Aranfalujanna), charged the new leadership to remain committed to the association’s constitution. He was joined at the event by the state Vice Chairman, Comrade Yemi Oladimeji ‘Joshman’, and General Secretary, Comrade Temitope Ogunjobi.
The smooth transition is seen as a positive development for the Osogbo PMAN chapter as it aims to further strengthen the voice and welfare of performing musicians in the State.
