Goods worth millions of naira were destroyed in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, 2026, when a fire outbreak razed Anambra Super Market Opposite Market Square along Aduwawa Road in Benin City, Edo State.
Eyewitnesses told Uptown Press that, the fire started from the third floor of the building and spread rapidly, with heavy flames engulfing parts of the supermarket before emergency responders could intervene.
Videos circulating on WhatsApp showed thick smoke and raging fire as residents and passersby gathered around the scene in shock.
Although no life was lost in the incident, several goods and properties were reportedly destroyed by the inferno.
The exact cause of the fire outbreak remains unknown as of the time of filing this report, while relevant authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
