Benin City witnessed a flurry of activity on Wednesday as Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, embarked on an inspection tour of several on-going infrastructure projects, including the first flyover in the City.
The Governor’s visit underscores his administration’s commitment to delivering practical and impactful development across the State.
During the tour, Governor Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the progress of the flyover construction, describing it as a significant milestone for his administration. “This project is a testament to our focus on tangible development rather than mere paperwork. We are not about signing MoUs; we are about delivering results. The progress here speaks for itself,” he remarked.
The Governor, accompanied by his team, also assessed the Upper Ekenwan Road project, directing contractors to expedite their work to ensure completion before the rainy season. “Our people deserve motorable roads all year round. This is why I’ve instructed the contractors to work around the clock to meet the deadline,” he said.
In addition to inspecting the flyover and roadworks, Governor Okpebholo visited the drainage site near the Army Barracks, where he reiterated his administration’s dedication to addressing flooding and improving road networks. Residents gathered to express their gratitude, applauding the Governor’s proactive approach.
Governor Okpebholo also took the opportunity to assure citizens of Edo State of the Federal Government’s support under President Bola Tinubu, highlighting the collaborative efforts to advance the State’s development agenda.
“My leadership style is rooted in action, not rhetoric. I will continue to personally oversee projects to ensure they are executed to the highest standards and delivered on schedule,” he stated, adding that his administration views governance as a call to service.
Other projects inspected included the Temboga Uteh-Ekiuwa roads and drainage systems, HRH Bako JP Street, and the Uteh Ekoko Road through Orior Osemwende, where significant progress was noted. In Oregbeni, Ikpoba Okha, residents turned out in large numbers to cheer the Governor as he reviewed the fabrication of materials for the flyover, a project that was initiated in November last year.
The day concluded with a visit to Obadan Junction along the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi Road, where drainage work is advancing steadily.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to deliver quality infrastructure that would transform the lives of Edo residents. “This is just the beginning. We are building a legacy of practical governance that will positively impact generations to come,” he concluded.
Residents across the State have praised the Governor for his hands-on approach and visible achievements within his first 100 days in office, hailing him as a leader who keeps his promises.
