Benedict Akika, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, was kidnapped on the night of Wednesday, September 4.
The incident occurred at Akika’s residence in Olorunda, located in Lagelu Local Government Area.
Eyewitnesses report that the gunmen, who were armed, stormed the residence and threatened to shoot anyone who attempted to resist. Family members disclosed that Akika was relaxing with his family when the gunmen arrived and took him away.
As of now, the Oyo State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the kidnapping, and the whereabouts of the politician remain unknown.
