In a bid to align with global standards and improve governance, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved the renaming of seven Ministries.
The Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, made this known in a statement on Tuesday, emphasising that the changes reflect the administration’s commitment to modernising public service and enhancing efficiency.
According to the statement, the adjustments will help streamline government operations, ensuring better service delivery to the people of Edo State.
“The Governor remains focused on fulfilling his mandate to the people and strengthening the state’s institutions for optimal performance,” the statement concluded.
The affected ministries and their new designations are as follows:
The Ministry of Roads and Bridges is now the Ministry of Works.
The Ministry of Local Government, Community, and Chieftaincy Affairs has been rebranded as the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The Ministry of Communication and Orientation has been renamed the Ministry of Information and Communications.
The Ministry of Mining and Energy is now the Ministry of Mining.
The Ministry of Water Resource has been changed to the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy.
The Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues is now the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The Ministry of Digital Economy, Science, and Technology has been streamlined to the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Edo State Government reassured citizens that these modifications will not affect service delivery but will instead enhance administrative efficiency.
