In a bid to address the hunger crisis affecting rural communities, the Bayelsa State Government has commenced the distribution of truckloads of rice provided by the Federal Government.
Governor Douye Diri announced the immediate rollout of this initiative, ensuring that the relief reaches those who need it most.

Governor Diri has emphasized the non-partisan nature of this distribution, stating, “This rice has no PDP face, has no APC face. It’s for every Bayelsan. No one should play politics with the distribution.”
In a directive aimed at ensuring fairness and transparency, the governor has stipulated that no political appointee or civil servant is to benefit from the rice allocation.

The governor’s directive underscores the urgency and impartiality of the initiative. By targeting rural communities, the Bayelsa State Government aims to alleviate the severe food shortages that have been exacerbated by recent economic challenges and flooding in the region.
