In apparent reaction to the high cost of of goods and services in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government of Edo State, the Otaru of Auchi Kingdom, HRH, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe III has read riot act to traders who are in the habit of inflating the price of goods beyond the reach of common man.
This is coming after some concerned residents of the community hear their grievances on the matter. He said that the wrath of Allah will be upon any trader who continues to inflate prices of goods thereby bringing hardship on the people.
The monarch said: “When we accepted Islam in 1914, idol worshipping was abolished and all idols and their shrines were destroyed.
“Today Allah has so uplifted Auchi Sacred Kingdom and blessed us with His Nur (Light) that we cannot afford to be ungrateful by making Auchi a place where the cost of products and services is the most expensive.
“…God has destroyed kingdoms as a result of injustices like the undue and unjustifiable hike or increments in prices of commodities in the past…
“In view of this, we must not incur the wrath of our Lord by using our hands to commit evil via cheating.
…Allah is a Witness to the fact that I’ve warned you against the act of selling at expensive rates. His anger will be upon those who continue to do so.”
