Orhionmwon East Constituency I has witnessed a year of unprecedented development under the leadership of Hon. Osamwonyi Evbaguehita Atu in the Edo State House of Assembly.
In an exclusive interview with Uptown Press, the lawmaker shared insights into his accomplishments and future plans on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the 8th Assembly.
“It is true that the 8th Assembly has just completed one year in office. First of all, I have to give thanks to God Almighty for giving me the power and strength to get to this stage,” Hon. Atu began, expressing gratitude for the journey thus far.
Hon. Atu’s tenure has been marked by significant contributions not only to his constituency but to Edo State as a whole.
“As of today, I have impacted my people positively. Since I assumed office, I have moved several motions on the floor of the House. I have contributed to the economic development of the State, not just my constituency,” he stated.
His efforts have translated into tangible projects and initiatives, directly benefiting the people.
One of the key areas of focus for Hon. Atu has been education. “I have given several scholarships to students at premier universities in Edo State. I have touched the lives of our children in primary schools in my constituency and beyond,” he highlighted.
These scholarships, totaling over one hundred, have supported students across various institutions including Igbinedion University and Benson Idahosa University.
Hon. Atu’s commitment to education extends to infrastructure and resources for schools. “Three months into my tenure, I went around my community’s primary and secondary schools, distributing books and other writing materials. The records are there. We are going to do more in my second year in office,” he affirmed.
Beyond education, Hon. Atu has initiated numerous constituency projects, some completed and others ongoing, aimed at improving the overall quality of life for his constituents. These projects are verifiable and stand as a testament to his dedication and transparency.
Employment generation has also been a cornerstone of his tenure. “I have given employment to several people in my constituency,” he mentioned, underscoring his efforts to reduce unemployment and provide opportunities for his people.
Looking ahead, Hon. Atu remains optimistic and committed. “I thank God for the wisdom and strength He has given me to contribute my quota today, and by His grace, I still have three years to go. I believe God will continue to use me to bless my constituency even more and Edo State at large,” he said.
He assured his constituents of continued progress, promising that the next three years would bring even greater achievements. “If by one year in office, I can proudly say that I have done these projects and go and verify that they are there, three years is even too far. By the time we come back again this time next year, I must have done double or triple of what I have done now,” he declared.
In a final note of dedication, Hon. Atu emphasized that his commitment to service extends beyond his current role. “I enjoy doing it and will not stop. Whether in office as an elected official or not, as God gives to me, I will give out to people.”
As Hon. Osamwonyi Evbaguehita Atu celebrates his first year in office, the people of Orhionmwon East and Edo State at large can look forward to continued development and prosperity under his steadfast and visionary leadership.
