Impeachment Scare: Edo Assembly Speaker suspends 3 Members

Uptown Press learned on Monday that, the Speaker of Edo House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Blessing Agbebaku, suspended three lawmakers without prior consultation with the rest of the house.
The suspended lawmakers are Mr. Donald Okogbe (PDP Akoko-Edo11), Bright Iyamu (PDP Orihonmwon South), and Adeh Isibor (PDP, Esan North East 1).
Agbebaku alleged that the trio planned to impeach him and other Principal Officers Council (POC) of the house.
He further claimed that the suspended members were being influenced by external forces to cause chaos and destabilize the leadership of the house. Additionally, Agbebaku accused some persons of bringing native doctors into the house at midnight on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, to perform demonic incantations and drop charms in the assembly complex.
Responding during the rowdy session, the three suspended lawmakers were seen screaming “Mr speaker you do not have the right to unilaterally suspend any member (s) of the house.
“You must call for votes. Allow members vote on the matter”, they screamed.

Uptown Press reports that the three affected lawmakers have yet to officially react to the suspension.
