Yesterday being the 23th of May 2024, marked a significant milestone in the history of Jagbe Clan in Etsako West Local Government Area as HRH, Omoaka Saidu Ademola, has been officially installed as the new Clan Head/Odionwele Of Jagbe. The ceremony witnessed the official presentation of a Staff of Office to the new clan head.
The event, which was held at Jagbe Community, was attended by residents, government officials and other dignitaries from across the state.
In his address, the Executive Chairman of Etsako West Council, Hon. Marvelous Muhizu Zibiri, stated that the presentation of the Staff of Office to HRH, Omoaka Ademola Saidu, as the Odionwele/Clan Head of Jagbe, marked a significant day in the history of the good people of the Clan.
The Chairman expressed his elation about the epoch making event simply because the determination of his administration’s commitment towards ensuring the existence and representation of every clan in the local government traditional council was finally coming to fruition.
“Before my assumption of office in September 2023, Etsako West Local Government Traditional Rulers Council had only two members instead of six (6) as contained in the relevant gazette due to litigations in some clans”. Hon marvelous said.
To ensure full functionality of the Local Government Traditional Rulers Council, Hon. Marvelous declared that it became imperative that the state government do the needful by installing cleared cases in communities under dispute, which resulted to the enthronement of the Eramah of Anwain Clan and the eventual approval of the nomination of HRH Omoaka Ademola Saidu to ascend the throne as the Odionwele of Jagbe Clan.
Hon. Marvelous expressed that with the approval of HRH Omoaka Ademola Saidu as the Clan Head of Jagbe, the membership of the Traditional Rulers Council has increased from 2 to 4, with the exception of SouthIbie and Ayuele Clan who are still engrossed with litigations, as it is now particularly worrisome that the people of both Clans are being deprived of the benefits of proper cultural and traditional leadership.
While commending Governor Godwin Obaseki for granting his administration the listening ear towards enthroning the duly certified personalities as Clan Heads to boost the administration of communities through traditional rulership, the Chairman used the opportunity to appeal to the State Government to consider the construction of the six (6) kilometers Jagbe main road which has been in deplorable conditions for decades.
Conclusively, the Chairman reiterated that as a government at the local level, he is committed to meeting the yearnings of the People through infrastructural and human capital development, as his administration has just secured approval from the Edo Public Procurement Agency to execute some capital projects and also to commence with the completion of some abandoned projects spanning more than ten years. In a kind gesture, the Chairman solicited for the understanding and cooperation of every community in Etsako West Council Area towards the delivery of the dividends of his administration.
The presentation of the Staff of Office was carried out by a representative of the State Government, Past. Osabuohien Micheal Horace, Director, Ministry of local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affaires, who commended the people of Jagbe for their peaceful conduct and cooperation during the entire process. In Making Edo Great Again (MEGA), Past. Osabuohien, stated that the State Government under Governor Godwin Obaseki, recognizes the important roles of traditional rulers in promoting development and progress in the state, and will continue to support their efforts in this regard.
In his speech, HRH, Omoaka Ademola Saidu, heartily thanked the Governor Of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki, the Executive Chairman of Etsako West Council, Hon. Marvelous Muhizu Zibiri, representative of the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government, Community and chieftaincy Affairs and the Jagbe traditional Council, for deeming it fit to present him with a Staff of Office. He stated further that inline with the tenets of the laws, custom, culture and tradition of the people of Jagbe, his unwavering commitment will be to uphold the sanctity of his position as the new Clan Head of Jagbe.
