The Managing Director Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency Sir Dr Lucky Eseigbe has charged contractors to always keep to contractual agreement in order not to deviate from standard and specifications.
Eseigbe gave the charge yesterday in his office during a meeting with contractors handling furniture projects.
He advised them to always consider their financial muscles before bidding for contracts in order not to experience hiccups in the course of execution.
Eseigbe decried situations where contractors get paid for supplying sub-standard furnitures stating that it was not going to be business as usual as Governor Okpepholo would not compromise standards but wants value for money.
He enjoined contractors to always consider the quality of materials and prevailing weather conditions when ordering for furniture as this affects the life span and maintenance of the items procured. He encouraged contractors indebted to the agency in terms of furniture supplied to make it up to the agency as soon as possible.
Eseigbe thanked the contractors for doing business with the government, assuring them that the agency would fulfil their part of the engagement as it deemed fit.
ln their response, the contractors promised to keep to the contract terms and congratulated the Managing Director on his appointment.
ln a related development, Eseigbe received contractors saddled with the cleaning of government offices.
He charged them to live up to their responsibilities of keeping the environment clean as cleanness is next to godliness.
Eseigbe said that given the fact that he Agency is in the eyes of the public, he would not be happy to receive negative reports concerning their staff.
He enjoined them to always make available to their staff materials needed to facilitate their delivery on assigned tasks to ensure a clean and healthy environment.
