HRH, Alhaji Kelvin Danesi, Oba Idanesi II, the Aidonogie of South Ibie Kingdom, has dismissed reports of a planned coronation on October 25th, 2024, labelling it a “farce.”
In a statement issued to Uptown Press on Thursday, the monarch urged his subjects to disregard the event, describing it as illegitimate and baseless.
The statement emphasised that no such coronation has been authorised, warning that any attempt to hold such an event would be in direct violation of existing court orders.
“The event, if any, will be a contemptuous nullity…fictitious and fallacious,” the monarch declared.
Oba Idanesi II, who has ruled South Ibie Kingdom for 27 years, reaffirmed that there is no vacancy in the traditional leadership.
He asserted that his reign is divinely ordained and consistent with the traditions of the South Ibie people as well as the laws of Edo State.
Addressing the community, the monarch called on the people of South Ibie to maintain peace and order, encouraging them to carry on with their daily activities without fear.
He expressed confidence in law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with the law and uphold order.
“Long live South Ibie Kingdom, long live Edo State,” the statement concluded, reaffirming the monarch’s commitment to preserving the kingdom’s stability and traditions.
The statement reads,
This is to inform the general public and the people of South Ibie Kingdom, that the purported coronation event scheduled for South Ibie on Friday 25th October, 2024 is a farce and should be disregarded.
There is no such ceremony. The event, if any, will be contemptuous nullity by subsisting court orders. At best it is fictitious and fallacious.
It should be made crystal clear again to those who may not know, that there has never and cannot be any vacancy in the traditional leadership stool of South Ibie Kingdom, in shaa’a Allah.
The royal reign of HRM, Alhaji Aliyu Kelvin Danesi, Oba Idanesi Ii, The Aidonogie of South Ibie Kingdom for past 27 years, is the making of Allah, The Supreme Lord of the Worlds and in line with the revered traditions of the South Ibie people and in concord with all relevant laws of Edo State, antiquated and extant.
We therefore call on the respected and respectful sons and daughters of South Ibie Kingdom to maintain the peace, order and dignity they are known for and go about their lawful businesses within and around South Ibie without fear or hindrance.
We trust the law enforcement agencies to uphold the rule of law and maintain orderly conducts as always.
