A Fulani woman, identified as Khadijat, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her co-wife, Ramatu, to death following a dispute in Ijoka community, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The fatal incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026, while members of the family were in the bush harvesting palm kernels.
The arrest was confirmed by a presenter with Ankpa Radio-Television in a video posted on Sunday, August 23.
Speaking in an earlier video, the husband of the two women, Jibrin, said he received a distress call at about 4pm informing him of a violent confrontation involving his wives and other family members.
According to him, Ramatu raised an alarm and cried for help as the alleged attack unfolded.
Her cries reportedly attracted family members who were harvesting palm kernels in another part of the bush. However, Jibrin said Khadijat allegedly warned them against approaching the area, claiming it was unsafe.
By the time the family members reached the scene, Khadijat had reportedly fled.
Ramatu was allegedly found with multiple stab wounds and was already dead.
Jibrin said the circumstances surrounding the killing later pointed to Khadijat as the alleged attacker.
The grieving husband disclosed that the two co-wives had a disagreement several weeks before the incident, but the family did not anticipate that the dispute could spiral into a deadly confrontation.
He alleged that Khadijat may have continued to harbour resentment over the earlier disagreement before the fatal attack.
The suspect is now in custody as investigations into the killing continue.
