A Lagos resident, Ajuonuh Ejura Fortunate, has expressed frustration over the pressures and demands of living in Nigeria’s commercial capital, declaring that she is now ready to relocate to her home state, Kogi.
Fortunate, who took to social media to share her experience, said she had reached a point where she could no longer cope with the stress of life in Lagos after spending more than a decade in the city.
According to her, she has lived in Lagos since 2014 and described the experience as one of the toughest periods of her life.
She said the daily struggle of waking up early, hustling throughout the day, returning home late and repeating the same routine had become overwhelming.
“I have thought about it deeply, and I’ve finally decided that it’s time for me to relocate back to my home in Kogi State, Olamaboro, Okpo.
“I’ve been in Lagos since 2014, and I can boldly say that this place has been one of the toughest experiences for me. Lagos is stressful, demanding, and honestly, I’m tired.
“I’m finally leaving Lagos for those who can wake up very early every morning, hustle all day, come back home late at night, and still wake up to do it all over again. I’ve tried my best, but I can’t do this anymore.
“Sometimes, choosing peace is more important than forcing yourself to survive where you are constantly struggling.
“It’s time for me to go home. ❤️”
Her comments reflect the growing frustration among some Lagos residents who struggle with the city’s demanding pace of life, long commutes, high living costs and intense daily hustle.
For Fortunate, however, the decision appears final: after 12 years in Lagos, she is choosing to return home to Olamaboro, Kogi State, in search of what she described as peace over survival.
