The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a married woman, Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, over the death of an alleged lover at a guest house in Gwarimpa, Abuja.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, disclosed the arrest while parading the suspect alongside other individuals arrested for various offences by the command.
According to the police commissioner, Muhammed had reportedly gone to Good Samaritan Guest House on 2nd Avenue, Gwarimpa, with the deceased when he suddenly died during an intimate encounter.
Sanusi said the woman allegedly took the deceased’s phone and left the guest house without informing the management after discovering that he had died.
The commissioner said hotel management later discovered the body but allegedly failed to immediately report the incident to the police.
Instead, two members of staff, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly moved the deceased’s body from the guest house and dumped it under the Katampe Bridge in Kubwa.
The police said the body was subsequently discovered under the bridge on August 26, 2026, prompting an investigation that traced the deceased to the Gwarimpa guest house.
“Investigation into the lifeless body of a man found under the Katampe bridge on 26 August 2026 has revealed that the deceased had lodged at a guest house in Gwarimpa with a married woman identified as Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2,” Sanusi said.
Further investigation, according to the police, established that Muhammed was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his contact on her phone under the name “Safiyat”.
The police investigation is continuing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death and the alleged movement and disposal of his body.
