As the All Progressive Congress, APC commences member registration and revalidation exercise across the country, more women are coming out to ensure that they are not left behind.

This is the situation at the Former APC Chairman, Adam Oshiomole’s registration point in Ward 10, Unit 01, Iyhamo, Etsako West Local Government of Edo State as more women took their time to register and revalidate their membership.

President Muhammadu Buhari had few days ago in Daura during his membership revalidation exercise tasked women and young Nigerians to register with the party and own it in order to continue to deliver devidends of democracy to Nigerians which the PDP failed to achieve.

The All Progressive Congress had noted in a statement:

“When the PDP failed in all manner of antics to desperately stop our registration by INEC, in 2013, ignobly stimulated the Department of Security Service (DSS) to demolish our data center in Lagos. Hence the good efforts made by our national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the onset in building a data center was regrettably smashed by the DSS. Today we could have had accurate National Data Membership Register,”
Okechukwu said.

“Accordingly, we are of the candid view that the registration and revalidation exercise embarked upon by the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) led by His Excellency, M.M.Buni, Governor Yobe State, has once more offered Nigerians the fresh and golden opportunity to register, own and transform the APC into truly the foremost progressive political party in Nigeria. Sincerely, we call on all Nigerians, especially youths and women to register and own the APC,”

However, the former All Progressive Congress National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole said the revalidation exercise is not necessary for old members as they have already done that in 2014 when the party was formed.

He stated that the registration exercise should be for only new members who just joined the party and those who left and later returned to the party adding that there is nothing in the APC constitution for old members to revalidate their membership.

He warned party leaders to shun action that will bring constitutional crisis in the party as serving governors and other political office holders were elected based on their membership of the party.

Oshiomole said: “There is nothing in the APC constitution that says you shall revalidate or renew your membership. It is not like a driving license. Once you joined the party and fulfilled all requirements. It is those who decamped and later returned to the party that need to revalidate their membership.

“I have only done this because sometimes for peace to reign, you just have to overlook certain things. But in doing that, we have to be careful not to cause constitutional breach.”

He added that it is necessary to review the Party’s register because between 2015 and 2021 people have decamped from the party while others have died.
