Mudiame University, Irrua, has reaffirmed its commitment to building stronger partnerships with professional organisations following a courtesy visit by officials of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ekpoma District Society.
The ICAN delegation was received by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Emmanuel Aluyor, alongside members of the institution’s management team during a meeting centred on expanding collaboration between the university and the accounting profession.
The delegation was led by Mr. Frank Orumwense, ACA, and included Mrs. Akinfolerin Bolanle Susan, FCA; Mr. Isidahomen Vincent; Mrs. Awe Olanike; and Dr. Isaac E. Ogbeifun, FCA.
During the visit, the delegation formally invited Professor Aluyor and the university community to attend the 9th ICAN Southern Zonal Accountants’ Conference, which will hold in Auchi, Edo State, from August 11th to 14th,2026.
The conference, themed “Leveraging Innovation and Risk-Taking for Sustainable Economic Growth: The Chartered Accountants’ Perspective,” is expected to bring together more than 1,500 participants, including accountants, academics, policymakers, business executives and other stakeholders. Discussions will focus on the role of innovation, good governance and strategic risk-taking in driving Nigeria’s economic growth.
Professor Aluyor thanked the ICAN delegation for the visit and invitation, noting that partnerships between universities and professional bodies play a vital role in preparing students for the realities of today’s workforce. He said such collaborations expose students and lecturers to industry best practices, evolving professional standards and opportunities for continuous development.
The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s dedication to supporting initiatives that promote academic excellence, ethical leadership and national development through strategic partnerships.
Members of the ICAN delegation, in their remarks, commended Mudiame University for its commitment to quality education and innovation. They expressed confidence that closer collaboration between both institutions would create more opportunities for students, lecturers and professionals in the accounting field.
The visit reflects the shared resolve of both Mudiame University and ICAN to strengthen the link between academia and the accounting profession while promoting professional development and contributing to the socio-economic growth of Edo State and the country at large.
