The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has suspended referee Adebayo Qudus from officiating in any further matches in the Nigeria National League (NNL) following what has been described as a “poor performance” during a recent fixture between Gateway United and Sporting Lagos.
The decision was confirmed in an official statement released by the NFF’s Referee Development Committee and signed by committee secretary, Ameenu Mohammed. The suspension stems from Qudus’s handling of the highly contentious match, where he was accused of awarding an “unjustified penalty” to one of the teams, alongside several other decisions that reportedly violated the Laws of the Game.
According to the NFF, the referee’s performance triggered significant disruption during the match and raised serious concerns about the integrity of the officiating process.
