As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, we celebrate our journey as a nation and renew our faith in a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.

Independence Day is a reminder of the courage, sacrifices and patriotism of those who fought for our freedom. It is also a call to each of us to play our part in building the Nigeria we desire.

For me, particularly in representing the people of Edo South, this commitment is reflected in our legislative interventions and constituency programmes — from scholarships for indigent students and healthcare support to youth and farmers’ empowerment, assistance for small businesses and community development projects.

The recent groundbreaking of the Amagba Community Market is another step towards creating opportunities and improving livelihoods. This Friday, we will take another important step with the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Amagba Police Station, strengthening security infrastructure for the community.

I particularly urge our youths to seize the numerous empowerment and development opportunities provided by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government.

The future belongs to those who prepare for it, and every opportunity to acquire skills, build businesses and improve one’s livelihood should be embraced.

Nigeria has challenges, but we must never lose hope. Our diversity is our strength, and our collective determination remains the driving force for a better nation.
