NNPCL GCEO, Kyari wins 2024 NUJ award For Good Governance, Transparency

Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, has been recognized for promoting transparency and good governance in the company.
He was awarded the 2024 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Good Governance Award, which was presented to him by the Company’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Umar Ajiya, at a ceremony held in Abuja’s Barcelona Hotels on Saturday.
Kyari’s contributions to the oil and gas sector have won him numerous awards, such as the Leadership Newspapers Group Chief Executive Officer of the year award for 2021 and the African Energy Chief Executive Officer of the year award.
He is known for implementing the Open Government Initiative, which has brought transparency and accountability to NNPC’s operations.
Kyari has also increased Nigeria’s oil reserves to 40 billion barrels, from 37 billion barrels, and resolved disputes around deep offshore bloc to boost the nation’s oil production.
His TAPE agenda, which stands for Transparency, Accountability, and Performance Excellence, is a five-step roadmap for NNPC’s efficiency and global excellence.
Kyari has been pursuing this agenda since he took office, which he believes is the only way to make the company competitive.
