The lawmaker representing Oredo West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Richard Edosa, has urged residents to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the exercise as critical to meaningful participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.

Edosa made the call at a voter mobilisation campaign organised by the Inter-Party Advisory Council over the weekend, aimed at boosting PVC collection and civic engagement ahead of future elections.

The event, which drew representatives of various political parties, APC stalwarts, and members of the Edo State House of Assembly, focused on educating citizens on the importance of registering, collecting their PVCs, and actively participating in elections.

Speaking at the gathering, Dr Edosa lamented the low rate of PVC collection as revealed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, urging eligible voters to take urgent action.

“I wonder how citizens who mean well for our country intend to effect change by standing on the sidelines,” he said. “You cannot be part of change when you are not involved. Change begins from within. Your PVC is more than just a card—it is your voice, your strength, and it determines your future.”

Other speakers at the event echoed similar sentiments, stressing that active voter participation remains the backbone of a thriving democracy.

The campaign marks a renewed push by stakeholders to drive grassroots awareness and ensure that more Edo residents take ownership of the electoral process through PVC registration and collection.
