The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, has arrested two suspects and rescued a teenage girl who was recently abducted and sexually assaulted in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The incident comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies and the Edo State Government to strengthen the fight against violent crimes, particularly offences involving women and children.

The incident was reported on June 19, 2026, after Mr Odion Enokhimion lodged a complaint at the NSCDC Ewohimi Division over the disappearance of his sister, who was allegedly taken away by unknown persons a day earlier.

According to the NSCDC investigation report, the suspects contacted the victim’s relatives after her abduction and demanded a ransom. They initially requested N800,000 before reducing the amount to N300,000.

The command said the conversations between the suspects and the victim’s family have been traced and recovered from a mobile phone belonging to one of the suspects, while an account allegedly linked to the suspects was also identified during the investigation.
