Obaseki, others pay last tribute to Okowa’s father, Arthur Okorie

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Saturday, joined other eminent Nigerians to pay his last tribute to late Chief Arthur Okorie Okowa, the father of Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

The governor, who commiserated with Governor Okowa and the people of Delta State, celebrated the governor’s father for the indelible legacies he left behind.

Obaseki noted that the late patriarch was a revered community leader who exuded uncommon love and grace that endeared him to all.

Others dignitaries at the event include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, and his Akwa Ibom and Sokoto counterparts, Udom Emmanuel and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, among others.

Speaking at the thanksgiving service, held at the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Diocese of Ika, Delta State, Prof. Osinbajo noted that “Pa Okowa was devoted to progressive politics; he is one of the leaders of politics in the defunct Bendel State. There is no doubt that he has left a legacy for his children, grandchildren, the state and nation at large.”

Earlier, Governor Okowa noted: “My father lived a worthy life as he impacted positively to the development of the society. He was a teacher, known for discipline and he impacted so much in the life of those who crossed his path in life.”
