This was stated by a Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum Resources , Dr. Ibe Kachikwu at a colloquium titled ‘International Oil and Gas Transaction’ which took place at the Akin Deko Auditorium, University of Benin, Ugbowo Campus, Benin City.
The lecture which was delivered by Rt. Hon. Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, former Minister of State, Petroleum Resources and visiting Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Benin, pointed at key factors in the oil and gas industry which emphasized Global Energy Sector, International Energy Transactions, Local Legislation in Nigeria, and Energy transition challenges.
He stated that oil is an instrument of energy production, politics, warfare and welfare, which is why its one of the most important economic commodity in the world.
He also advised the students on the importance of being in school and gathering knowledge as much as they can which will later benefit them in whatever career they choose or found themselves.
‘ Being in school is not only enough but the friendships you creat and the overall knowledge you acquire is the key, grabbing opportunity, hard work and taking a leap of faith in all your endeavors’.
He further urge them to try and step out of their comfort zone if need be and enter into their choice of career with a mindset of making a difference and impact.
