Mary Onoge Omokhagbor, the CEO of Okpella TV, was recently awarded the prestigious title of Female Media Personality of the Year at the Miss Afemai Beauty Pageant 2024.
The event, which celebrated the beauty, talent, and cultural richness of Afemai land, attracted a host of prominent media figures and featured beautiful contestants vying for the title of the most beautiful girl in Afemai.
Omokhagbor, an accomplished media executive, hails from Okpella, Edo State, Nigeria. Born in February in Badagry, Lagos State, to Pastor and Mrs Thomas Omokhagbor, she has steadily built a remarkable career, drawing on her strong educational foundation in Music Technology, Broadcast Journalism, and Mass Communication.
Her career trajectory has been defined not only by her work in media but also by her passion for advocacy. Omokhagbor’s creation of Okpella TV stands as a testament to her commitment to using media as a platform for social change. The station, which serves as a voice for the voiceless, has made significant strides in promoting local culture, empowering the youth, and addressing community issues.
Through Okpella TV, she has raised funds for various causes, including assisting Naishat Mustafa, a young girl born without arms, and Peter, a child suffering from a dislocated knee. She also organised the Ether Brai initiative and hosts an annual Christmas party for children in Okpella, bringing joy and a sense of community to the region.
Beyond these philanthropic efforts, Omokhagbor’s media platform has played a key role in helping young people in her community discover their purpose in life. Her outreach efforts have not been limited to Edo State, as Okpella TV is currently expanding its influence into other states across Nigeria.
Omokhagbor’s academic achievements also stand out. She recently obtained a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Edo University Iyamo, further solidifying her position as a trailblazer in the Nigerian media industry.
