The multimillion naira Mother and Child Specialist Hospital in Osogbo will be completed next month, the Site Engineer, Dr Yusuf Moshood disclosed today in the Osun state capital.
He told the visiting Deputy Majority Leader in the state Assembly, Mr Moshood Kunle Akande that the construction company was working round the clock to ensure that the hospital was delivered before the due date in June this year.
According to him, the two-storey building project which was being financed through the Sustainable Development Program SDG of the federal and Osun state governments had been roofed while basic amenities and fittings were being fixed.
He said that work began on the site in December last year with the understanding that the hospital would be ready for use in June this year.
”We will ensure that we beat the deadline because all the materials needed for completion are now on ground,” he said.
The 120 bed mother and child hospital has among other unique features uninterrupted power supply and water through solar energy.
It also has eight wards, four labour rooms, operating theatres, offices and VIP Wards.
Mr. Akande commended the contractors for prompt execution and good quality work.
He noted that the establishment of the specialist hospital would reduce cases of infant mortality rate in the state of Osun.
”This is the first of its kind in the state and it is a clear indication that Governor Gboyega Oyetola is deeply committed to the total well being of the citizenry,” he said.
He also thanked the governor for deeming it fit to site the hospital in Olorunda state constituency.
The lawmaker who is also the House Majority Leader later visited the National Vocational Centre under construction at Dagbolu where the pace of was also impressive.
He was accompanied by the SSA to Governor Gboyega Oyetola on SDG, Mr Shittu Williams, the immediate past Chairman of Olorunda North LCDA, Mr Ajisebiyawo and some party leaders in the Constituency.
