Owan Set to Make History as socio-cultural group hosts Owan Day celebration in Afuze

A socio-cultural group, Owan Conscience, has extended an open invitation to the general public to attend the maiden edition of the Owan Day Celebration, scheduled to take place on Saturday, 31st May 2025.

The landmark event will be held in Afuze, the administrative headquarters of Owan East Local Government Area, and promises to be a vibrant showcase of the rich cultural heritage of the Owan nation.

According to the organisers, the celebration is designed to unite the Owan people in a shared moment of reflection, cultural pride, and strategic dialogue for future development. The day’s programme will include a variety of cultural exhibitions representing the diverse clans and communities from both Owan East and Owan West local government areas.

Chairman of Owan Conscience, Barrister Richard Ofen-Imu, speaking in anticipation of the event, expressed the group’s readiness to deliver a memorable and well-organised occasion. “All necessary arrangements have been concluded. We are fully prepared to host a hitch-free and impactful celebration,” he affirmed.

The Owan Day Celebration is expected to draw indigenes, cultural enthusiasts, historians, and stakeholders from across Edo State and beyond.
