…Sets Up Six-Man Investigation Committee
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Chief Dan Orbih, the National Vice Chairman (South South), from all party activities.
The decision was taken during the NWC’s 588th meeting held today, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, where various issues, including complaints about Chief Orbih’s actions concerning the upcoming September 21, 2024, Governorship election in Edo State, were deliberated.
In an official statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC expressed unanimous condemnation of Chief Orbih’s actions and utterances.
The committee found his conduct regarding the Edo State Governorship Primary Election to be inconsistent with the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) and the responsibilities of his national office.
To address the matter, the NWC has established a six-member investigation committee chaired by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Amb. Taofeek Arapaja. This committee is tasked with thoroughly investigating the issues in accordance with the party’s constitutional provisions.
Pending the outcome of this investigation, Chief Dan Orbih has been suspended from participating in all NWC meetings, activities, and programs.
The NWC has also expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support and solidarity from the people of Edo State. They are rallying behind the PDP and its candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, who is seen as a visionary leader aligned with the aspirations of the people for continued development in the state.
The NWC urges all party leaders, stakeholders, and members in Edo State to remain united, focused, and dedicated to ensuring the party’s victory in the upcoming Governorship election on September 21, 2024.
