The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the official reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as its National Secretary, following a decision endorsed by its top leaders and organs.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Acting National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, during a press briefing. He was joined by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and other senior stakeholders.
Ambassador Damagum stated that the decision to reinstate Anyanwu was challenging but ultimately received overwhelming support from party members and leaders across its various organs.
“As you can imagine, this was a critical decision,” Damagum said. “It was not taken lightly, but it was endorsed by the majority of party members and leaders. We have now confirmed the reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the PDP.”
He also announced the cancellation of the planned NEC meeting, saying, “We will have an expanded Caucus. At the next Caucus meeting, we will take a decision that will lead to a formal NEC. As the Independent National Electoral Commission has stated, they have no notice from us, so what we will have on June 30th is an expanded Caucus.”
Anyanwu is expected to resume duties immediately, marking a pivotal moment for the PDP as it strives for unity and stability within its ranks.
