Nigeria Government has advised parents to make adequate plans for families as country prepares to go on another Lockdown following rise of COVID-19 cases.

The statement reads in parts: We’ve just completed another Presidential Task Force meeting on COVID-19. Today marked the first meeting of the National Pandemic Response Centre for the Presidential Taskforce.

I believe it is important to let us know that turbulent times caused by the pandemic coronavirus are about to occur in the world. We might be hard hit soon. The explanation for this is that, at the beginning, we, I mean the Nigerian government, delayed taking proactive action.

I can assure us, however, that the government is serious about taking the measures required to reduce the number of casualties. Well integrated initiatives from a broad, diverse spectrum are about to be placed in place. Today, all the requisite working groups were inaugurated.

The Task Force is partnered by international organizations such as the WHO, UNICEF, the UNDP, the CDC, the World Bank, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and civil society organisations from the private sector, providing technical and financial assistance and support.

There’s quite a stream of donations. We got $33m from the Global Fund, another $3.3m came from another entity that I can’t instantly give a name. Max Air donated $200,000, and #100m was donated by the Chinese company, Huawei.

A variety of other handsome donations are eligible. These are meetings we have been holding with some foreign experts. More concrete action will manifest itself in the next few days. To counter the scourge, all relevant institutions are being mobilized for action. In order to ensure their mutual collaboration and cooperation, the task force is also galvanizing the state governments.

More importantly, the aim of this message is to provide us with the privileged knowledge that the country is imminently fully locked down. This will take place soon, very soon, maybe this weekend, and will last for at least 14 days.

I therefore advise us to make appropriate arrangements for our families immediately. In these trying times, thank you and may God Almighty aid Nigeria and the Nigerians. Keep blessed. The Dr. Aliyu. Presidential Task Force Chairman Covid 19
