The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has confirmed the arrest of some suspected political thugs who brutalized the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, during a protest in Owerri, Imo State on the 1st of November.
The NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had declared a nationwide strike, demanding the arrest of the suspected thugs and their sponsors.
In a statement signed by the Head of Strategic Communications in the Office of the National Security Adviser, Zakari U Mijinyawa, Ribadu urged the organized labor to halt the ongoing nationwide strike, expressing concern about its potential impact on economic security and other strategic national interests.
He also pledged that the outcome of the investigation into the incident would be made public as soon as it is concluded.
