Public Complaints Commission Appoints New Federal Commissioner After Years of Absence

The Federal Government has appointed and inaugurated Mr. Austine Aigbavboa as the new Federal Commissioner for the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), commonly known as the Ombudsman, after a prolonged vacancy in the role.

Mr. Aigbavboa, who was appointed in July 2024, was formally inaugurated on September 25, 2024, to represent Edo State on the commission’s board.

His mandate is clear: to champion justice for individuals oppressed, dehumanized, or aggrieved by the actions and inactions of governments, ministries, agencies, parastatals, and private organizations.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Aigbavboa, a retired Deputy Director in charge of investigations at the PCC, had served the commission with distinction.
His career in public service began in 1996, after transferring from Ambrose Alli University, where he graduated with a degree in English Education.

Over the years, he rose through the ranks, earning a reputation as a skilled conflict manager, human resources leader, and adept administrator. He retired in 2014 after nearly two decades of service.

As the new Federal Commissioner, Mr. Aigbavboa brings extensive experience to his new role.
He is tasked with reviving the PCC’s mission of providing impartial investigations and securing justice for individuals wronged by public or private entities.
