The Committee in charge of the bill at the National Assembly to upgrade Auchi polytechnic to the status of University of Technology laid their clean copy report on Thursday.
The bill which was sponsored by the Rt. Hon. Johnson Egwakhide Oghuma, the lawmaker representing the good people of Etsako Federal Constituency of Edo State at the National Assembly and Chairman House Committee On Environment finally got an approval at the plenary.
Abdulganiyu Attakhiru, the Legislative aide to the lawmaker said in a statement that while reacting to the achieved feat shortly after plenary, Hon. Oghuma said “I am a fulfilled Man today and specially thankful to God almighty who made the rigorous journey of this utmost priority bill to come to reality which makes me so much delighted”. Hon. Oghuma is optimistic about the president assent as the bill awaits transmission to the clerk of the National Assembly for final presidential assent.
The lawmaker further elucidated on the merits of the bill when finally assented to by the president as according him to him, “the development would create more opportunity for academics to strive most especially in areas of technological advancement to the best world standard practice which is part of the goals of the Federal govt, employment generation, capacity building, to inspire the youths. Hon. Oghuma also pointed out that the university would impact very tremendously on the environment by boosting economic activities which would in turn increase revenue generation.
Hon. Oghuma declared that charity begins at home, while expressing love and appreciation he has for his constituents ( ETSAKO PEOPLE) for choosing him to represent them at this time and their support, prayers so far in the journey that had led to numerous achievements topmost of which is this present bill.
