The Rivers State House of Assembly has halted the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Deputy Governor, Ngozi Odu.

The House moved the motion to halt the impeachment process at its resumed sitting in Port Harcourt, the State capital, today February 19.

This move comes barely a week after President Tinubu intervened in the renewed political impasse between Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor and current Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

The House of Assembly members, who are loyal to the FCT Minister, had in January issued a notice of impeachment to Gov Fubara and his deputy on grounds of gross misconduct.
