Senate Donates ₦50 Million to Families of Oyo Schoolchildren Rescue Heroes

The Nigerian Senate has approved a ₦50 million donation to the families of five individuals who lost their lives during the rescue operation for abducted schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The intervention is aimed at supporting the bereaved families and honouring the sacrifice of the victims, who died during efforts to secure the freedom of the kidnapped schoolchildren.

The Senate described the deceased as heroes whose courage and selflessness contributed to the successful rescue mission, stressing that their sacrifice would not be forgotten.

The upper legislative chamber noted that the financial support reflects its commitment to standing with families affected by tragedies arising from insecurity and to recognising acts of bravery in the service of humanity.
