Former Senator Bello Mandiya, who represented Katsina South Senatorial District, has been found dead in his Abuja residence, about 72 hours after he was reportedly last seen alive.
Senator Abdul Ningi disclosed the circumstances surrounding Mandiya’s death during Senate plenary, saying the former lawmaker allegedly slipped after bathing and hit his head.
According to Ningi, alarm was raised after Mandiya missed prayers for three consecutive days. Neighbours reportedly became suspicious when a foul smell began coming from his apartment.
They subsequently forced the door open and discovered his lifeless body inside.
Mandiya, 62, represented Katsina South in the Senate from 2019 to 2023 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His death has drawn attention to the circumstances surrounding his final hours, with the account presented by Ningi suggesting that he may have remained undiscovered in his residence for about three days.
