The leaders of the South-Ibie community have made a formal appeal to His Excellency, Governor Sen. Monday Okpebholo, urging the Edo State Government to prioritise the construction of the South-Ibie/Aviele Road.
This road, they say, is critical for connecting the two communities, which currently share a common boundary but are hindered by the lack of a direct road link.
Due to the absence of this vital infrastructure, residents have been forced to travel via the busy expressway, a route fraught with danger due to high-speed vehicles. Tragically, this has led to numerous accidents and fatalities, as people attempt to navigate the hazardous stretch of road between the communities.
In their appeal, the community leaders stress that the construction of the South-Ibie/Aviele Road would not only reduce the risk of accidents and save lives but also open up new business opportunities for local residents. They believe that improved road access would enhance economic activity and bring prosperity to both South-Ibie and Aviele.
The community has expressed its deep hope that the Governor will consider their request, emphasising that such a development would leave a lasting legacy. “If this appeal is granted,” they said, “the people of South-Ibie and Aviele will forever be grateful, and the Governor’s name will be etched in gold by the community.”
