Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is on the verge of completing a sensational return to South African club Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 30-year-old Nigerian international has returned to South Africa and is reportedly training with the Chilli Boys as preparations intensify under head coach Brandon Truter for the new campaign.
Nwabali parted ways with Chippa United earlier this year after both parties mutually agreed to terminate his contract following his return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where Nigeria secured the bronze medal after defeating Egypt in a penalty shootout.
Despite his exit, the highly-rated shot-stopper now appears set to rejoin the club, having impressed during his previous spell with Chippa United.
His anticipated return is expected to bolster the club’s goalkeeping department as Chippa United continue to reinforce their squad ahead of the new South African Premier Division season.
Nwabali has remained one of Nigeria’s most dependable goalkeepers in recent years, and his imminent reunion with Chippa United is seen as a significant boost for both the club and the Super Eagles star as he seeks regular first-team football ahead of upcoming international assignments.
