He emphasized the need to secure mineral-rich areas from pilfering and conflict, citing the Democratic Republic of Congo as an example of a nation that has suffered from exploitation for decades.
The President also urged member nations to work together to deter foreign entities from illegally mining gold and other resources in Africa, which threaten peace and national security.
President Tinubu further noted that Nigeria is business-ready and that his aggressive economic development diplomatic push for new investment has been effective, but the ease of doing business might not be the major encumbrance to large scale investment.
He emphasized the need for equal, mutually beneficial cooperation, direct investment, debt relief, and opening ports to a wider range of quality African exports.
The President also highlighted the importance of tailoring climate change strategies to respective socio-economic strengths and weaknesses, and urged established economies to invest in Africa’s preferred projects and initiatives.
He concluded his address by calling on the world to walk with Africa as true friends and partners, and emphasized that Africa is the key to the world’s future.
