Tragedy as Yobe FMC Medical Director Loses Doctor, Pharmacist Twin Daughters Two Days Apart

Professor Hadiza Abdullahi Usman, Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Nguru, Yobe State, has suffered a devastating loss following the deaths of her twin daughters just two days apart.

The deceased siblings, Dr Hadiyah Usman Abdullahi, a medical doctor, and Aidah Usman Abdullahi, a pharmacist, reportedly died from complications associated with sickle cell disease.

Hadiyah died on Friday, October 2, 2026, while her twin sister, Aidah, died two days later on Sunday, October 4.

The deaths of the sisters have sent shockwaves through their family and the medical community, coming within an extraordinarily short period of each other.

Hadiyah and Aidah had both pursued careers in healthcare, with one qualifying as a medical doctor and the other as a pharmacist.

Their deaths have also drawn attention to the devastating impact of sickle cell disease, a genetic blood disorder that can cause severe and potentially life-threatening complications.

Condolences have continued to pour in for Professor Usman and her family as they mourn the loss of the twin daughters.
