South African sensation Tyla has reportedly turned down a $2 million offer from Nigerian superstar Wizkid to feature on his upcoming album.
The offer, proposed by Wizkid’s record label, RCA, aimed to bring together two of Africa’s biggest musical talents, but Tyla declined the collaboration due to creative differences.
Wizkid, known for his global hits and influence in the Afrobeat genre, reached out to Tyla in hopes of securing a feature from the rising star on his highly anticipated album *Morayo*.
Tyla, who recently won a GRAMMY and two BET Awards, has been widely recognized as Africa’s biggest artist at the moment, thanks to her unique fusion of Amapiano and R&B.
According to sources close to the situation, Tyla was not impressed with the song Wizkid sent her for the collaboration. Despite the generous financial offer, she felt the track did not meet her standards of creativity. However, her decision to reject the offer was met with understanding and respect from Wizkid.
In a statement following Tyla’s decision, Wizkid expressed his admiration for the South African artist, saying, “Tyla is the South African Queen and the biggest African artist right now, and her blow-up is something Africa has never seen before. She just took the bar of blowing up higher, and I love her beautiful, amazing album. Her fusion of Amapiano and R&B is unmatched.”
Wizkid went on to clarify that Tyla did not entirely reject the idea of collaborating but instead gave him another opportunity to work on a different song. “She didn’t actually reject my feature request; she just gave me another chance to work with her on something better, and she did it politely,” Wizkid explained. “I still want to work with her, and I’ll work hard on another song since she did not like the one I sent. You don’t just wake up and feature Tyla, even if she knows and loves your work, so if it happens, it’s a blessing.”
Wizkid also hinted that his album *Morayo* might not be released until he secures a feature from Tyla, emphasizing her importance to the project. “She’s a queen, and if we have to give her $3 million, we would. I hope she’ll be in my album *Morayo*,” he said.
