Nigerian footballers Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala have made it to the final shortlists for the annual Confederation of African Football (CAF) men and women’s player of the year awards, respectively.
As per the list released by CAF, Victor Osimhen will be competing with Mohamed Salah from Egypt and Achraf Hakimi from Morocco for the men’s award.
It’s worth mentioning that Osimhen is a strong favorite for the highest individual honor in Africa, given his impressive performance in leading Napoli to its first Italian Serie A title in 30 years last season.
Recently, he also won the Italian Footballers’ Association (IFA) player of the year award for the 2022/23 season, thanks to his outstanding contribution of 25 goals to the league.
